Meet the four generations of Wells' that have built this business into the company that you know and love today.
Founded in 1921 by Frank Wells, Wells Decorators began as a small, domestic painting and decorating business, employing just four decorators and operating with a hand cart. As the business grew, Frank later upgraded to a motorbike and sidecar, making the first steps in the company's expansion.
In 1952, Frank was joined by his son, Charles David Wells, and the company continued to develop steadily. When Frank retired in 1966, David - as he was known, took over the business, further strengthening it's reputation and growing it's client base.
The next generation joined in 1984, when Robert, David's son, started as an apprentice painter and decorator. Robert has since progressed to Managing Director, where he remains today.
The family involvement continued with Rob's wife, Marie, who joined the company in 1998, and now heads the accounts department. Danielle, their daughter, first joined in 2011, and returned in 2017, as an office administrator and interior designer. She now manages the office team and oversees the day-to-day operations. Sam, their son, joined the business in 2016 as a trainee estimator, and continues in this role, now qualified.
In 2025, the youngest member of the F & CD Wells family arrived. Danielle and Reece, who has been a painter and decorator with us since 2008, welcomed their son, Charlie - now a cheeky little regular at the Office, bringing a smile to anyone who stops by.
Today, F & CD Wells Ltd is proud to have delivered professional, high-quality painting and decorating services for over 105 years. While the business has grown and evolved, we have never lost the personal, family-run approach that makes our clients feel valued and supported.
